Avenida Diagonal is the name of one of Barcelona’s widest and most important avenues. It cuts the city in two, diagonally with respect to the grid pattern of the surrounding streets, hence the name Diagonal. This amazing avenue is wonderful for travelers, an easy way to move across the city all the way to the beaches without losing your way. The avenue starts in the Les Corts district on the western edge of the city and runs to the Sant Martí district on the eastern edge all the way to the beach. Construction started on the avenue in 1859.
This beautiful avenue has trams, buses, bikes, joggers and walkers. Additionally the hop on and hop off is an adventurous way to explore!
